While there, the unique culture and history (and Cheers set! of course) got me thinking about frames. I know, I know. A total picture frame nerd.

With all the history in Boston and New England area -from the Quakers to Salem trials to the American Independence and colonialists- there are a number of art galleries and museums in the vicinity. Seeing all this American history got me to thinking about what a great antique-style frame can have on a piece. I saw a number of old American colonial paintings with their original intact frames adhered. It was pretty cool. Going to a graveyard and seeing George Washington’s parents graves makes you take a step back and take in the sheer history of this place…

I recently watched “The Social Network,” a movie based on the creator of Facebook and his tenure at Harvard and beyond. Going to Harvard Campus you really appreciate the tradition and history of the U.S. that it represents.

All of this Boston-nostalgia gave me some inspiration for Christmas; perhaps instead of buying gifts, this year I will paint some watercolour pieces and then frame them and give to loved ones. They may not be 300 years-old; however, I seem to be a sucker for the antique-style currently and it seems like a pretty good idea.

And if you’re ever in Boston make sure to check out the view from Boston Common (park). Designed by the same planner of New York’s Central park, it is not be missed.
